Women's program
Andrea Naylor is the District Manager of our women's houses, a position she has held since mid-2004. Since her arrival she has overseen the growth of the women's program from 20 beds to 100 beds.
She is now training several women managers in preparation for adding women's houses in the Phoenix and Glendale markets.
Her plans are to continue her career with TLC as long she can be of service.
In response to a continued demand, in April of 2004 we began housing women. Because TLC had housed only men for the first 12 years of its operations housing women was a totally new experience. Because other operators had told us that women were much more of a problem to manage we approached the idea with a deal of trepidation. Several questions arose:
-Would we allow contact between female and male clients? (Only for business reasons.)
-Would we house them separately? (Clients of the opposite sex live in separate facilities.)
-Could clients date? (Clients can't be in new relationships for the first ninety days. Once off restriction clients date whoever they want.
-Would females get more breaks than male clients? (they are treated the same as the men.)
-Could women work in our business operations? (They actually have taken over our store operations and are doing a better job than the prior managers, who were men.)
